How we're celebrating Pride 2024 at Silver Cloud
by SJ Hood

This Pride Month, we want to take a moment to recognise and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. The month of June is an important time to honour the progress made towards equality and to acknowledge the ongoing struggles faced by many.
Pride Month is more than just a celebration; it is a powerful reminder of the importance of diversity, acceptance, and inclusion. It is an opportunity for us to stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours, and to reaffirm our commitment to fostering an environment where everyone feels equal, valued and respected.
Prior to this year Silver Cloud has never previously highlighted Pride because we never want to come across as inauthentic in our support. It is a month that is close to many of our hearts however, so this year we have made a concerted effort to take meaningful and thoughtful action while keeping the vibrant atmosphere of Pride itself.
“Pride month for us will be an opportunity to be reminded of the incredible strength and courage of our LGBTQIA+ community. My commitment to ensuring inclusivity and equality at Silver Cloud is deeply personal, as I have seen firsthand the positive impact that a supportive environment can have on individuals. Our goal is to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, accepted and respected, and most of all, can be themselves.”
— Helen Armstrong, CEO and Founder of Silver Cloud
We are therefore excited to announce that we have planned a range of activities for our team all month long – these include an educational whole-company workshop on June 13th, fundraising activity for some specially chosen charities, an online resource library and policy reviews (notably on our equal opportunities, parental and inclusion policies).
Our Silver Cloud Book Club has also put together a recommended reading list under the theme of LGBTQIA+ for this month and of course, we’ll be planning a day for everyone to dress up and share their Pride in full colour!
We encourage everyone to participate, learn, and show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Let’s all take this time to educate ourselves, support LGBTQIA+ organisations, and participate in local events and initiatives. Together, we can create a more inclusive and compassionate world.
